![]() ![]() The resort is very nice, but there are maintenance issues here and there, including water stains on the shower ceiling. Cons: Our room's bathroom was modern, but was designed to not include a door and was completely open to the rest of the room, which could be an issue with some people. The resort is rather isolated and the sunsets spectacular, so I really felt as though we were getting "away from it all" every day we were on the property. The boat dock was convenient for taking off-property trips, such as snorkeling and fishing. The breakfast buffet was fresh, offered cook-to-order omelets, and a beautiful view of the ocean. There are several good places to eat on property, but my favorite was the Oceana Restaurant, which is located on the beach. Pros: Easy check-in, beautiful beach, not crowded even during peak season, cool rooms and a staff that is friendly and willing to go the extra mile. but choosing three stars because it is closer to three than four. I do have one word to improve the drinks though: "bendy-straws". The Coffee was better at Aura that at Capri. The SkyBar and Coco's was awesome! Every restaurant messed up an order at least once, and the food was just so-so most of the time. The buffet was horrible, cold food and not appetizing at all. It was clean and sanitary at all times though. Also the battery to our safe died and rendered it unusable the last day. Hotel:My room (in the main lobby building) was old, had a lot of deferred maintenance, and smelled of paint (better than mildew, but not much) Our shower bar did not work (old/rusty/stuck closed) and we only had enough hot water for a 3 minute or less shower. The "beach servers" were awesome and worked tirelessly. The Front Desk staff never came through with any requests, while the restaurant staff was good, but often got the orders wrong. Also, there are areas around the grounds that smell very bad like sewer. Beach was big but the sand could be a little rough. Great area, great setting, private, secure, and still centrally located. This will need to be broken down in a few areas: Location: You cannot beat the location. That being said here is my review of Secrets Aura. If Secrets Capri could "plop" down at the Secrets Aura location. ![]() Secrets Capri wins in all categories but Location. The main differences between the two hotels have to do with Staff, quality of Food, Amenities and Location. Also as my last disclaimer to start this review is this was our first full vacation where we at an "All Inclusive". Also On this vacation I stayed six days in Cozumel at the Secrets Aura and 5 days at the Secrets Capri at Playa del Carmen. First let me state I am an UVC member, so I have access to the U-Lounge and maybe a few more "perks" available.
